Banana
Banana (Musa sp.) is the second most important fruit crop in India next to mango. Its year-round availability, affordability, varietal range, taste, nutritive and medicinal value makes it the favorite fruit among all classes of people. It has also good export potential.
Banana is grown in about 120 countries. Total annual world production is estimated at 86 million tons of fruits. India leads the world in banana production with an annual output of about 14.2 million tons. Other leading producers are Brazil, Ecuador, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Costarica, Mexico, Thailand and Colombia.
In India banana ranks first in production and third in area among fruit crops. It accounts for 13% of the total area and 33% of the production of fruits. Production is highest in Maharashtra (3924.1 thousand tones) followed by Tamil Nadu (3543.8 thousand tons). Within India, Maharashtra has the highest productivity of 65.70 metric tons /ha, against national average of 30.5 tons/ha. The other major banana producing states are Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Assam.
Advantage of Suryashakthi in Banana Cultivation:
- Suryashakthi application to banana plantlets improves its acclimatization to the soil by hastening root growth followed by active leaves.
- Increased active roots helps the plant to absorb more water and nutrients from soil and active leaves absorb sunlight more effectively. Thus, leading to healthy crop growth and development, which gives tolerance to many diseases like Bacterial wilt, stunted growth, Rhizome rot, leaf spot and leaf rust.
- Suryashakthi treated improved the 3 to 5 healthy plantlets (young plant) growth compared to non-treated plot (no suckers or 1 to 2 non-vigorous plantlets).
- In Suryashakthi treated plot, non-fruiting plant percentage was 1% compared to 10% in non-treated plot. The average fruit bunch weight in treated plot was 32 to 35Kg compared 23 to 25Kg in non-treated plot.
- Flower initiation was notice in dormant plant (non-flower bearing) in Suryashakthi treated plot (5gm of each RuBisCO-ACT and Photon-MAX at flowering stage) .
- Suryashakthi treatment helped disease plant to overcome stress and grow normally.
Diseases of Banana
- Symptoms of stem splitting
- Rhizome rot
- Bacterial wilt and less fruit
Banana Plantation Before Suryashakthi Treatment
Suryashakthi treated Banana Plantation
Method of Suryashakthi Application:
First Application
- First 5gm of RuBisCO-ACT per plant is suggested for 1-month old plantlet in water.
- 15 days after 5gm of Photon-MAX per plant in water
Second Application
- At the time of flowering with 10gm RuBisCO-ACT and 10gm Photon-MAX (Dissolve 1kg in 100Liter water and apply 1 L per plant for 10gms and 0.5L per plant for 5gms)
Application time:
In case of disease occurrence, double the dose per plant.
RuBisCO-ACT (Formula 1) to be applied first and 15 days after (within 25 days) Photon-MAX to be applied and no chemical fertilizer should be given 20 to 25days prior to Formula-1 application and 20 to 25 days after formula-2 application.
